Record Phone Calls Through Your PC Sound Card with this Wireless Phone Recording Controller by Radio Shack

August 14th, 2007 · 5 Comments · Audio & Video

Did you know that now you can record phone calls directly to your PC? This can be useful when you are interviewing an expert in your niche market, or if your need to keep a record of your conversations with a business partner or coaching client.

You can use a device that connects your Wireless Phone or Cordless Phone to the Microphone input of your sound card. The device is called the Radio Shack Wireless Phone Recording Controller, catalog number 17-855. It sells for about $25.00 US and can be ordered online here:

What’s the difference between a Cordless and a Wireless Phone, you ask? Well, the cordless phone has a base that plugs into a wall jack and connects by a land line to the phone company’s central office. A cell phone has no wires but connects to the phone company via transmission towers in your local area.

Here is a picture of what the device looks like (headset, phone, and recorder not included)

(Don’t forget to ask the other party’s permission to record them, in order to comply with local and federal laws.)

There is a lot of people who call to me and talk some crap(most of them are some kind of telemarketers) so it will be great to record them and maybe put it to the web :d

I’ve been scouring the internet for a cheap way to record calls, thinking I’d find the solution in software. There are many options, all expensive or just not for me. I wish I had known there’s a simple device. Thanks!
